Mary Adam's epitaph is from the Gospel according to St. Matthew 19:13-14:

13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

14  But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Mary Adams, born three years before the start of the War, was the first child of John Gotea Pressley and his wife, Julia (Burckmyer) Pressley. He and his wife made the pilgrimage from their house in Kingstree to the old family burial grounds in "Boyd's Old Field," so their firstborn child could join the rest of the family buried there since the days of Eleanor Orr Pressley, born in the mid-1700s.
